Worked All Britain

The Worked All Britain award scheme operates in a similar way to the Worked All Mayo and WorkedAllIreland awards. The U.K. is divided into a number of 10 x 10 km squares and a WAB book-holder attempts to work as many squares as possible. Each book is numbered and there are awards for working book-holders, starting with 100 book-numbers. As both the WAB and WorkedAllIreland schemes include squares in Northern Ireland it's possible to work squares for both awards at the same time.

I've been a member of WAB for some years; my book-number is 12898.

Local Authority Squares

If you get bored with that then the WAB adds a few twists - each square is assigned to one or more local government regions, so the dedicated WAB enthusiast might decide to work all the square / local authority combinations. On it's own this provides a huge number of squares to work, but the UK local government areas have a tendency to change on a regular basis to further complicate things.

Contests

There are a number of WAB contests every year including:

Please refer to the Contest Calendar for a list of all forthcoming contest. Details of WAB specific contest are on the WAB contest site.

Membership

To join the Worked All Britain scheme you buy a numbered WAB book, which lists all the squares. Ownership of the book gives you life membership. A CD version of the book is also available.
