Books I'm currently reading

• In Search of Excellence By: Tom Peters, Robert H. Waterman, ISBN 1861977166 (alternate). This is one of those books that gets mentioned a lot, so I thought it was about time I bought a copy. It's been sitting on the shelf for months, but as Robert Scoble keeps talking about Tom Peters - and I've been browsing Tom's web site - I've finally made a start on it.

Science Books

• A Passion for DNA: Genes, Genomes and Society, By: Jim Watson, Walter Gratzer (Editor), ISBN 0198604289 (alternate). This is a series of essays, some of them fascinating and some of little interest to me.

Computer Books

• Essential .Net Volume 1 By: Don Box, Chris Sells, ISBN 0201734117 (alternate). it's sitting on my desk, and I'm trying to make time to read it. It looks like good in-depth stuff; I may have to take this back home to give it the attention it deserves.

• The C# Programming Language By: Anders Hejlsberg, et al, ISBN 0321154916 (alternate). This very much a reference book rather than one you read. It's scope is limited strictly to the language itself, so no details of the .NET Framework etc. It's the kind of books that's useful once you already know something about the language, so similar to Stroustrup's "The C++ Programming Language" in that respect; except that Stroustrup also includes useful insights on design and coding techniques. This one's earned a place on my desk.

Other

• An Introduction to General Systems Thinking. - I read a few chapters of this a couple of months back; it was more accessible than I'd expected. I have four plane trips in October, so I'll probably take this with me.

• Software Fortresses : Modeling Enterprise Architectures By: Roger Sessions, ISBN 0321166086 (alternate). Not actually a bad book, but Disappointing, so a qualified

• The Double Helix: Personal Account of the Discovery of the Structure of DNA, By: James D. Watson, Steve Jones (Introduction), ISBN 0140268774 (alternate) Very good, it prompted me to order a biography of Rosalind Franklin.
