I was first licenced as G7MDZ around 1992. A year later I passed my 12 words per minute morse test thanks to some excellent tuition from MARS, the Midlands Amateur Radio Society and gained the callsign G0TGJ. In 1999 I was granted the reciprocal callsign EI9IW.
I'm a member of several amateur radio groups, including the Mayo Radio Experimenters Network, the RSGB, the ARRL, WAB and the IRTS.
At one time I was very active on VHF and UHF, with 70 cm being my favourite band. Finding time for radio is more difficult these days, so I tend to have occasional bursts of activity separated by long gaps.
My HF station includes a Yaesu FT-1000MP and a Kenwood TS-50 with wire and vertical aerials. For VHF and UHF I have Yaesu FT-736R and FT-8100R rigs, and three hand-helds.
